Tot School

Since it was the week before Thanksgiving, our theme for Tot School was...Thanksgiving!  As usual, K joined in and we learned a couple of Thanksgiving songs from Mailbox.  We played a game called Tired Turkey that helped E learn about the t sound.  I found this in a Mailbox magazine also.  If you cannot tell, I like Mailbox!  The game consisted of a picture of a turkey and then pictures of a bunch of different objects that mostly started with the letter T.   K and E took turns picking an object card and if it started with a T then they put it on the turkey.  They both had a lot of fun with this, and E did really well!

We finished up that day by doing a turkey puzzle that I printed off of www.teacherfilebox.com.   I helped E with this, since there was a lot of cutting involved.  He did a great job putting the pieces together and gluing it on though.

On our second day we reviewed the songs we learned earlier in the week.  My kids love to sing, so I am trying to incorporate more songs into our school time.   Next, K made a girl pilgrim and E made a boy pilgrim.  There was a fairly easy project in K's Abeka Art Projects book that I thought E would be able to do, and he did pretty well with the gluing and coloring.  K was nice enough to make the face for him!

Here are some of the Thanksgiving books we read throughout the week...

Over the River and Through the Woods by Lydia Maria Child
The Littlest Pilgrim by Brandi Dougherty
This First Thanksgiving Day by Laura Krauss Melmed
The Story of Thanksgiving by Nancy Skarmeas
