Pumpkins!

This week our theme was one of my favorite things...pumpkins!!!  (The next two weeks we are doing pumpkins as well.)    We will be doing quite a few pumpkin art projects, reading all of the pumpkin books I can get my hands on, and eating a lot of pumpkin food.  I love October!

Day 1
We read Pumpkin Day, Pumpkin Night and The Biggest Pumpkin Ever.  Then we made these pumpkins.

I gave them small white paper plates, and had them paint the back side with orange paint.  Then we cut out brown construction paper stems and glued them on.  I love art projects like this: easy to prepare for, easy to clean up, and the kids loved doing it.

Day 2
One of my favorite pumpkin desserts is Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread.  One of my friends introduced this to me a few years ago, and now it is one of my favorite fall foods.  K and E helped me make a couple of loaves today.

While the bread was baking, I cleaned up the mess made by my little helpers and they colored a pumpkin picture.

We then read Pooh's Pumpkin and the Plumply, Dumply Pumpkin.   After that our bread was ready, and it was sooooooo good!
