Tot Trays and Preschool Boxes

I started using Tot Trays this week, and E loved them.  I like to have everything planned out, so I wrote out what I was going to have in his 4 trays for the next 6 weeks.  I wanted to start this sooner, but I was waiting until I was done planning.  I am an organized procrastinator, I guess.  In the trays were...

1.  Pouring - little pasta, a plastic pitcher type thing that I found in my daughters kitchen, a play pasta scoop, 2 plastic cups and 2 paper bowls.  My daughter played with this as much as E did, and they even played with it together.
 2.  This idea I borrowed from Ariana at My Sweet Chaos.   In the tray was a foam floral block from Hobby Lobby, a bag of golf tees and a play hammer.  He loved hitting the tees into the block.  He did this everyday this week.  Again, K really liked doing this one too.
3.   Letter magnets and a small magnetic white board.  E likes to separate the letters by color, and try to fit all of the letters on the board.
4.  Fall stickers and 2 pieces of different colored construction paper.  He never actually got to this, because he liked the other three so much.

I wanted to have some things for E to do while I did school with K, and this worked out perfectly this week.  Hopefully, E will like what I have for him for the next five weeks.

I also started something similar for K using a drawer unit with three compartments.  I am calling them her preschool boxes, and every week I will put three new activities for her to do.  She can do these whenever she feels like it during the day.  In the boxes this week I had a Kumon Jigsaw Puzzle book, rainbow scratch paper, and a Crayola color by number coloring book that I got in the $1 section at Target.  Sometimes it seems like she just doesn't know what to do, so I wanted to provide her with some ideas.   I will be doing this every week for as long as it is working!
