Our second ‘theme of the week’ was Summer. I generally hate Summer. I don’t like the heat. I don’t like my dead garden. I don’t like that the kids are stuck inside. But I decided to try to embrace it a little bit, and so I made it one of our themes. It didn’t quite work since all of the books we read showed people at the beach, playing at the park and having picnics. K noticed that we cannot do any of those things unless we go to California. Oh well, I tried!
On Tuesday, we read a couple of books and then did an art project. (I posted about our art project yesterday.) On Thursday, we read a few more books with a Summery theme, and we colored a beach picture I found at www.familyfun.go.com. Today I plan to make smores for a snack or for dessert, because they remind me of Summer.
