Finally back to normal...

I guess I should have learned by now that things rarely go the way I planned them...especially when it comes to our school schedule.  We are two weeks in and there have already been many things to derail us.  The first week I was sooooo sick, which made it impossible for me to do very much.  We ended up doing a few things towards the end of the week...math, phonics and a little art.  This week has been much, much better thankfully!   We are pretty much doing the same things as the fall/winter, but I do plan on making some additions.   I updated our curriculum here

And now this is what we accomplished this week...
K is doing great in Math.  It's really easy for her so far, and hopefully it will stay that way.  :)  She is working through Abeka K, and learning about place value and money currently.  We just started Explode the Code book 2 this week, and so far so good.  The second book focuses on consonant blends, and she is not having any problems with them at all.  For spelling we are using All About Spelling.  K finished lesson 4 this week and we started lesson 5, which focuses on the vowels short sounds.   In science, K is learning about plants and trees.  She isn't necessarily loving Sonlight Science K, but I like it!  I think I need to incorporate more of the hands on activities and she will be more interested.  Last week for Geography, K learned about the United Kingdom, and this week she will be learning about Italy.

E started three different Kumon books this week.  He was very excited to be included in K's school time!  I bought the cutting, stickers and coloring books for 2 year olds.  He loves them so far, and is doing a pretty good job following directions.  For our Tot School theme this week, we learned about polar animals.

  1. Isn't it amazing how quickly plans can be destroyed. Nothing went as I planned today!

  2. Yes, I think learning to be flexible is the most important aspect to homeschooling. :)
