First Month...check!

I can't believe how fast the last few weeks have flown by.  This week is already our fifth week of school, so I figured I would do a little summary of the first four weeks.  It has gone amazingly well, which I am super excited about.  I was a little nervous even though I have been working with K for two years.  It just felt different somehow. 

I like lists, so here is a list of highlights from our first month:

• K finished Kindergarten math and started 1st grade math yesterday!
• K memorized The Caterpillar by Christina G. Rosetti in two days!
• We are loving Elemental Science and Elemental History.  I am so glad I decided to use these for Kindergarten.  K is really enjoying the hands on aspect.  She loves the science experiments and the nature study in the science curriculum, and she seems to really like learning about the states in the history program.  
• K has progressed to lesson 87 in The Ordinary Parents Guide to Teaching Reading.  She is doing so well!  There were days a couple of months ago when I thought she might never read, so sometimes I still cannot believe how well she is doing!  

• E has learned letters A - D, and the numbers 1 - 3.  He loves being part of our school day, and I've been amazed at how much he already knows.  In the last few weeks, he has started holding a pencil the correct way, which has made him enjoy coloring so much more.  This morning when I came out of my room, K and E were coloring a picture together.  So cute!
