First Grade

K is in first grade!  I still don't really believe that my baby girl is old enough to be in 1st grade.  I remember 1st grade...it just doesn't seem possible that I'm old enough to have a child in 1st grade.  Now on to things that aren't related to my age...I have been looking forward to K's 1st grade year since we first decided to homeschool when she was 2 years old.  I think this is because I love curriculum.  I'm not sure exactly why this is, but it probably has to due with the fact that I was an education major and I have just always loved books.  I do seriously love books!  I have done A LOT of research over the last few years on what will be best to use this year and I am very excited to get going.  This is what we will be doing...

Math - Abeka Math 1 and Singapore 1A & B
Grammar - First Language Lessons 1 & Abeka Language 1
Writing - Writing With Ease 1
Handwriting - Zaner-Bloser 1
Phonics - Abeka Letters & Sounds 1
Reading - Abeka 1
History - Story of the World 1 & Tapestry of Grace Ancients
Science - Sassafras Science Adventures: Zoology
Latin - Song School Latin 1
Bible - Telling God's Story 1
Art - Artistic Pursuits K-3: Book 1 & Abeka Art 2
Music - Let's Play Music: Year 2
PE - Family Time Fitness

That is our list, and so far everything seems to be a good fit.  K will be starting her music class again in a few weeks, and then she will be on her first baseball team in about a month.  I think I am more excited about that than she is, but she is really looking forward to it too.  I think this will be a great year!  Here are some pics from our first week of school.
