First Day!

On the first day of school, we took the kids out to breakfast at Cracker Barrel. We hadn't been there in a couple of years, and K and E thought it was great. They loved the porch with all of the rocking chairs, and the big game of chess. They could have stayed out there for a long time, but it was a little too hot for that.

 

After breakfast, daddy went to work and the kids and I went home so that we could start the academic part of our first day.  They worked really well at the same table, which I was a little worried about.  In this pic, K is working on her Explode the Code 2 phonics workbook, and E is coloring a picture of an apple tree from Letter of the Week.
