When to start? This question has been bugging me for a few weeks. K is still pretty young, but I have seen others start at this age. Honestly, my reason for wanting to start is selfish. She is starting to drive me crazy always asking how to spell words. She is very good at writing (handwriting), but she is not a great reader yet and therefore is not able to spell most words that she wants to write. In order to not have to spell hundreds of words a day for her (ok I may be exaggerating), I was thinking I could just teach her to spell.
Then came the hard part (for me anyway)... choosing the curriculum. I may be an over researcher. I tend to look so much and at so many things that I end up confusing myself. After a couple weeks of this, I decided to go with All About Spelling. Yay! I'm actually pretty excited to start using this. I liked that it teaches the rules, is very hands on, and it seems that most kids really like doing it. Most of the blogs that I follow are written by moms who use this curriculum, and my best friend uses it and loves it. I was actually able to look through her stuff this last weekend, and I was convinced. I'm hoping to never have to look at another spelling curriculum ever again. I ordered level 1 yesterday, and we will start it in the next couple of weeks.
This is what I want to use as well and I'm very excited to do so in the future.
